Some of us are very concerned on our new BMW about oil consumption. Don't be, because the first 6k miles are all about break in. What does this mean? It means that if you have 4k miles on your 2012 650i and you have added 2 quarts of oil, it is normal, do not panic. BMW engines are in break in for the first 6k miles and therefore the engine will consume more engine oil. All normal during break in period. Do not forget that some engine oil needs to be consumed for lubrication of pistons, and turbo chargers. After 6k miles you can have your local BMW dealer perform an engine oil consumption report.
